Let’s take it slow, as this week was crazy with all kinds of news, especially for applications using Generative AI for video:
Runway teams up with Lionsgate
Lionsgate is giving Runway access to its catalog to create a custom model for them. This catalog includes "The Hunger Games," "Twilight," and even the "John Wick" series. The studio states that AI can be used to create solutions that help in the creative process, potentially saving "millions and millions of dollars."
More Runway news—simple but important:
It’s now possible to generate vertical videos (previously, only horizontal format was accepted).
They announced the launch of an API for Gen-3 Alpha, while Luma Labs’ Dream Machine API is already available. This will allow other companies to develop applications using Runway and/or Luma Labs technology.
The Gen:48 AI film competition took place: Over 3,500 people from around the world participated. You can vote for the top 30 selected films here.
Kling allows more movement control
Kuaishou has released version 1.5 of its AI video generator, Kling, which now supports HD 1080p videos in professional mode, featuring sharper images, enhanced dynamics, and more precise prompt handling. Launched globally in 2023, Kling continues to offer 66 free credits daily for video creation. Definitely worth trying.
Motion Brush in Kling
The most notable addition is the "Motion Brush" feature, allowing users to precisely control the movement of specific elements in the videos.

YouTube bets on AI for Creators
YouTube is launching AI-driven features that make content creation easier and improve audience interaction. The most notable integration is Google’s video generation model, Veo, into YouTube Shorts, which will allow for dynamic backgrounds and six-second clips to enhance videos.
Why is this important?
While platforms like TikTok and Meta have experimented more cautiously with AI, YouTube is pushing a more complete set of tools, making content creation more accessible and appealing to a global audience.
Make musical covers with Suno
Suno has launched its new Covers feature in beta, allowing users to transform voice recordings or produced tracks into new musical styles while maintaining the original melody. Users can upload recordings, select a new style, and easily create unique versions, making Covers a revolutionary tool for musicians of all levels.
Why is this important?
This tool facilitates experimentation with genres, adding lyrics to instrumental songs, and modifying voices, offering new creative possibilities.
