Let’s test if the new kid on the block is better than Midjourney
Let’s test if the new kid on the block is better than Midjourney

Flux, a recently released AI image generator from Black Forest Labs, has quickly emerged as a formidable player in the world of AI-driven creativity. In just a few weeks, it has gained significant traction, becoming one of the most powerful tools available.
It has been hyped as a Midjourney Killer
What sets Flux apart is its open-source nature, making it accessible to a broader audience. Unlike Midjourney, Leonardo AI and other closed, paid-for services, Flux is available for download and can be run locally or on a variety of platforms.
This flexibility has contributed to its rapid rise in popularity and availability.
How to use Flux
There are multiple ways to use and test Flux without downloading it:
Available on Freepik for Premium users.
Available on X with Grok for Premium users.
Available on Replicate, schnell version is free.
Available on Flux AI Image Generation
So, is it good?
Let’s see how it compares to Midjourney:
Prompt: A portrait of a young woman with long, flowing hair, bathed in golden hour sunlight, with a soft focus background of a meadow. The style is photorealistic with emphasis on natural skin tones and textures.
Prompt: A bustling japanese city street at night, with neon signs reflecting off wet pavement. The focus is on a lone figure walking with an umbrella, with the surrounding environment slightly blurred to convey motion.
Prompt: The metal head with sunglasses, in the style of neon hallucinations, exaggerated anatomy, shot on 70mm, fluid gestures, exuberant, photo-realistic techniques, poured
Prompt: A detailed close-up of a hand holding a vintage pocket watch, with intricate engravings visible. The background is softly blurred to keep the focus on the watch and the hand.
Prompt: Award-winning photograph of an abstract faceless divine being of colossal size, translucid, tall as clouds, ethereal, standing next to a tiny mountain, clouded face, skin made of galaxies, glittering lights, wearing a flowing mantle made of clouds and stars, blurred/glitched body, non-corporeal, thunderous gaze, omnious, symbolic, religious
Flux has rapidly established itself as a strong competitor in the AI image generation space, offering an open-source alternative that rivals the quality of Midjourney.
Keep in mind it’s a new tool, and it’s off to an excelent start. Worth keeping an eye on it for the future.
