Advanced Options for Midjourney’s sref Style References and Model Personalization
Midjourney, the leading company in the Generative AI Art field, now has introduced significant enhancements to its --sref
(style references) and --p
(model personalization) features, empowering users to create more (!) intricate and personalized designs.
There are billions of Reference Styles in Midjourney. And now we mix and blend them. The sky is the limit now.
Quick recap for everyone:
If you write a prompt and add --sref
followed by a Reference Style number, your image will be generated with the distinct style associated with that sref code.
If you write a prompt and add --p
, your image will be generated with the style of the images you have ranked and liked.
Great. So what are the changes?
The latest update to Midjourney’s --sref
functionality brings several advanced options to the table:
Blend Multiple Style References:
Users can now combine two or more (!) sref codes to create a unique style amalgamation. For example, using --sref 3319970161 2667828500
will blend the styles associated with codes 3319970161 and 2667828500.
Let’s see how that results:
Wow! The resulting image easily combines elements from both styles, creating an entirely new and unique aesthetic.
Weighted Blending of Codes and URLs:
Users can assign weights to individual codes or URLs, providing more control over the influence of each style. The notation --sref 3319970161::1 2667828500::2
means code 2667828500 will have twice the influence compared to code 3319970161.

Combine Style Reference Image URLs and Codes:
Finally, a variation of the previous features, it’s now possible to merge style reference image URLs with Reference Styles. For instance, --sref 123 url
enables the integration of a specific image style with a designated code.
This applies to model personalization too
Midjourney’s model personalization feature has also received a significant upgrade:
Blend Multiple Personalization Codes:
Similar to the style references, users can now blend multiple model personalization codes. For example, --p fidxhwn yfbxsj7
combines the characteristics of the two codes.
Photographic Portrait — ar 16:9 — p fidxhwn yfbxsj7 — v 6.0
Weighted Blending of Personalization Codes:
Users can now assign weights to personalization codes, allowing for nuanced control over the model’s characteristics. The notation --p fidxhwn::2 yfbxsj7::1
gives a higher influence to the code fidxhwn
.
These enhancements open up a lot of new possibilities for collaborative creativity. Users can blend their personalization and style codes with those of their friends, exploring novel aesthetic harmonies and pushing the boundaries of design innovation.
