Midjourney Niji 7 to cinematic realism: Comparing Flux 2 vs. Nano Banana vs. Seedream
Testing the leading AI tools to see which can turn Midjourney art into a high-budget cinematic frame.
Midjourney’s Niji 7 is fun.
It’s a great tool for generating stylized anime art.
But for creators looking to take those designs and turn them into a “live-action” cinematic frame, the workflow often breaks down. How do we keep the iconic “anime flair” while adding the textures and lighting of a 2026 blockbuster?
Glad you ask. I have a simple workflow for you.
Let’s dive in.
The first stop is Midjourney’s Niji 7.
It has an awesome range of anime and manga stuff. I tested with a prompt focused on a “cyber soldier” with a massive mechanical weapon and transparent tactical gear. Niji 7 gave us the perfect anime foundation: high-contrast lines, glowing circuits, and a fashionable mood:
Pseudo realism, Full body, Photography of anime female cyber soldier standing with giant cyber weapon, white top, battle armor, angle view, relaxed mood, magnetic boots, heels, circuits in neck, mood of cool self-containment --chaos 10 --ar 3:4 --sref 2009807273 2517325941 --stylize 1000 --niji 7
And this is the result I liked the most:
Now. Let’s turn our warrior into a realistic character.
For this test, I used the AI Suite of the Freepik platform, using the following prompt (@img1 being the image above):
Cinematic version of @img1 , realistic photography, full body.
And here come the results:
The Results: A 4-Way Battle
Flux 2: It excelled at the physical properties of the outfit. Notice the realistic "PVC" texture and realistic light refraction on the transparent jacket. The face is the most stylized.
GPT: This output feels the most "polished" but also the most typical of AI generation. It smoothed out the complex mechanical neck details and stylized the weapon, giving it a high-end CGI look rather than a gritty cinematic feel.
Nano Banana Pro: This version nailed the lighting and "mood." It introduced volumetric fog and a more dramatic contrast, which makes it look like a still from a high-budget live-action adaptation of an anime.
Seedream 4.5: This tool captured the “Cyber Soldier” vibe with the most grit. The mechanical neck circuits look integrated into the anatomy, and the metallic wear on the weapon feels like it has weight and history.
Testing the breaking point
I tried different styles, to see if there was a limit to this workflow.
Niji 7 Prompt: full body, woman with robotic arms and huge rocket launcher, dynamic motion attacking posture, minimal diagrams, martial art posture, neon colors, intricate sci-fi equipments, giant broadsword, big strokes runes, frozen country --ar 3:4 --stylize 1000 --niji 7
Niji 7 Prompt: Pseudo-realism, Dynamic shot, unusual angle, woman with long flowing hair with red biomechanical red heavy armor in combat charging forward holding a giant broadsword, motion, close up intensity, blur, action, bokeh, fire, sparks, shirt design, white background --chaos 10 --ar 3:4 --sref 173219105 --stylize 1000 --niji 7
What do you think?
Turning it into a video
I liked the realistic anime feel of Nano Banana Pro, so I decided to turn it into a short video. Added a defined background, and without leaving Freepik, I used Kling 2.6 to animate it:
Woman approaches camera, leans forward, blows a kiss and smiles
And there you go.
This workflow is fun and easy. Fully recommend it.
Try it, and let me know if I can help with any doubt you may have. In the meantime, touch grass, have great coffee, and enjoy.
Cheers.
