Runway Gen-3 Video to Video: Transform any video with AI
Introducing Gen-3 Alpha Video to Video: Now Available for All Paid Plans
RunwayML has released its new Video to Video feature. It’s now live on the web for all users with paid plans. This new tool is a new advancement in video generation, providing users with greater control over movement, expressiveness, and artistic intent within their video content.
What Is Video to Video?
Video to Video is an innovative mechanism that allows users to transform existing videos by applying custom prompts or choosing from preset styles to guide the look and feel of the final output.
Whether you want to enhance a video’s aesthetics, alter its mood, or precisely control movement and expressiveness, this tool makes it easier than ever to bring your creative visions to life.
Spec Information
Before diving into the steps, here’s a quick overview of the key specifications for Video to Video on Gen-3 Alpha:
Cost: 5 seconds or less: 50 credits, more than 5 seconds: 100 credits.
Supported durations: Up to 10 seconds
Output resolution: SD (720p)
Supported aspect ratios: 16:9 (1280x768)
How It Works
Using Video to Video is straightforward:
Step 1: Selecting the Input Video
Start by navigating to the Generative Video section of your dashboard. Ensure that the Gen-3 Alpha model is selected from the dropdown in the top left corner. This is important, as Video to Video is exclusive to the full Gen-3 Alpha model and cannot be used with the Turbo model.
To upload your video, either drag and drop a file or select one from your assets. Keep in mind that only videos with a 16:9 aspect ratio are supported. If your video is in a different ratio, you’ll need to crop it into the 16:9 format before proceeding.
Step 2: Drafting the Prompt
The magic of Video to Video lies in how text prompts can dramatically alter your video’s style. For the best results, craft a descriptive and detailed prompt that outlines your desired visual style.
Or just select one of the styles available in the presets:
Step 3: Configuring the Settings
Review the available settings for Video to Video to ensure optimal results.
Structure Transformation
This setting determines how closely the output adheres to the structure of the input video. Adjusting this setting allows you to control how much the output transforms the original video’s structure:
Lower values: Maintain the original structure of the input video.
Higher values: Produce more abstract and stylistically transformed outputs.
Here is the result:
Why It’s Important
This new feature offers users more control over their video content, allowing for different movements and more emotional expression in generated videos.
