Steal this process to mine SREF codes in Midjourney
Sharing my fun-filled process to get SREF Codes

I’m sharing my fun-filled process for discovering SREF codes on Midjourney. I’ve been mining for unique SREFs since they were first released, and I just love the thrill of finding new styles.
With billions of SREF codes to explore, it’s a never-ending journey.
Most people use the traditional method of the --sref random
parameter and wait for a gem to appear.
I don’t do that. I hate random stuff.
I explore with purpose, inch by inch, until I strike gold.
Let me explain.
1. Mining Equipment
Whenever I have a break from the daily grind, I dive into Midjourney with these essential tools:
Relax Mode: I always work in relax mode. Do it at night, and you won’t even notice the wait.
Set an Exploration Range: Instead of random generation, I define a specific range of SREF codes to explore. For example, I might decide to dig from SREF 5000010 to SREF 5000020.
So my mining prompt looks like this:
--relax --sref 5000010
2. The Prompt
For my prompts, I keep things simple and open-ended. I want Midjourney to fill the artwork with the essence of each SREF style, so I start with something generic.
Currently, my go-to prompt is:
Movie still --relax --sref 5000010
Then, I copy and paste the same prompt for each SREF code up to 5000020.
3. Analyzing the Rocks
From a batch of ten SREFs, you’ll typically find one to three interesting styles. Once I spot something intriguing, it’s time to dig deeper:
Use Different Prompts: I test it with other prompts like Portrait, Wild, Cyber, or Fast to reveal more details of the style.
Adjust the Stylize Parameter: I experiment with the stylize parameter, usually setting it to 1000, to see how it influences the style.
This process helps uncover the real gems hiding in the SREF codes.
4. Showcase the Diamonds
After identifying the jewels, it’s time to share them. I use a Figma (it’s free) template of my creation to present the styles in an organized and visually appealing way.
And there you have it — this is the process I use to mine for SREF codes. It’s methodical, creative, and, most importantly, fun. Give it a try and see what treasures you uncover!
