Testing Recraft V3: The AI Model that thinks in design language
Recraft is focused on designers with its new AI Art tool
AI generation tools are now at a point where high-quality output is the baseline, a true commodity. To stand out, it’s less about raw quality and more about unique features, customization, and user experience. Quality is now the default; differentiation lies elsewhere.
In a field filled with innovation, Recraft V3 is trying a different take, emerging as a sophisticated AI model built explicitly with designers in mind.
It’s an AI Image generator with multiple other tools:
Image Editor and Upscaler
Text Generation without limits
Mockups Generator
Let’s take a look at what we can do.
Recraft as an AI Image Generator
Recraft offers an easy workflow to generate images:
Prompt: Iphone photo, close up, portrait, gorgeous woman with long flowing hair, cute, smiling, young face, beautiful shadows, minimalist apartment, urban clothing, inside an apartment, DSLR, holding a sign written in ballpoint pen on a notebook saying “This is an example to test out our Recraftv3”
Prompt: A close-up photo of a hand holding a vintage pocket watch.
Prompt: Award-winning photograph of an abstract faceless divine being of colossal size, translucid, tall as clouds, ethereal, standing next to a tiny mountain, clouded face, skin made of galaxies, glittering lights, wearing a flowing mantle made of clouds and stars, blurred/glitched body, non-corporeal, thunderous gaze, ominous, symbolic, religious
Not bad, but not amazing either. We are living in a world where Midjourney and Flux dominate the crowded field of AI Art, and raw realism is not enough anymore.
Recraft also offer the basic set of features you now expect from any AI Tool: Edit details, remove background, change aspect ratio, and upscale.
That’s why Recraft offers a few new things:
Recraft as AI Vector Generator
As many other tools, Recraft has a mode for Vector art.
The difference is that Recraft V3 can turn your PNG/JPEG into scalable vector graphics, ensuring designs remain crisp and clear, regardless of size.
I was able to generate a basic portrait of King Kong, download as a SVG, and upload it to Figma to edit it and add more colors.
This feature is very potent, and the workflow is easy to use. I’m frankly amazed other tools don’t offer this yet.
Recraft as a Text Tool
Recraft V3 is more than an image generator; it’s a powerful graphic design tool. It’s able to manage longer texts, and intengrate them into a graphic in a quick way:
While it may not reach the level of Ideogram, the champion of the generative text+graphics, this is an alternative offer that may be very useful for a designer audience looking to create a lot of graphics with text.
Users gain control over text size, placement, and style, making it suitable for intricate branding projects, product visuals, and complex layouts. This professional-grade customization ensures that every detail aligns with the brand’s aesthetic, allowing designers to fine-tune text elements with precision.
Recraft as a mockup generator
The tool is able to create professional-looking mockups for any product or logo. Take a look at this:
With Recraft V3, businesses and designers can bridge the gap between advanced AI and professional design standards. It’s a leap forward in quality, control, and adaptability.
A new stage has begun, where AI doesn’t just generate images but truly understands the language of design.
