Number 1: Secret Invasion intro, by Method Studios
Oh, boy. This was a huge deal.
Marvel’s decision to incorporate a distinctive AI influence, reminiscent of Midjourney’s style, in the opening credits of Secret Invasion stirred a huge controversy. Fans revolted, and everyone had an opinion. The show’s executive producer, Ali Selim, justified the use of artificial intelligence by emphasizing its alignment with the theme of extraterrestrial beings concealing themselves among humans. However, this move faced criticism, particularly within the context of the ongoing strike by TV writers who oppose AI replacing their roles. Despite attempts to clarify that AI was merely one tool and that no artists’ jobs were displaced, public dissatisfaction lingered, finding expression on social media following the Disney+ premiere.
This incident not only spotlighted the challenges in the entertainment industry’s integration of AI but also reflected a broader societal trend. The growing scrutiny of AI extends beyond entertainment to various work domains, capturing the attention of an increasingly observant public. As technological developments continue to evolve, the general sentiment suggests a heightened awareness and scrutiny surrounding the role of AI in various aspects of modern life.
2023 was the year Generative AI video started to walk; As you can see in these works, there has been a tremendous advance in the quality of the tools in that year alone. The future is bright, but there is still work to do.
And there you have it. Do you agree with the ranking? Please share your thoughts and opinions.
